If GSDs didn’t have to be stacked the way they are…..?
If GSDs were stacked in the 4-square stack (http://www.flickr.com/photos/gsdluvrr/4858368635/), do you think there’d be a problem with over angulation and backs sloped to badly?

I agree with Lizzie. GSD’s were my breed of choice when I first became interested in pedigree dogs and the show scene. Not any more. The judges, by awarding the exaggerated sloped backs, have influenced breeders to breed these once magnificent dogs to the degree that some have difficulty walking. If judges didn’t award these dogs, breeders wouldn’t breed them. The breeders are not innocent. They know better but they don’t do better. Has the breed standard changed so much? I don’t think so.
Many GSD’s in the ring these days, (in Aus) would not be capable of working. So sad for a working breed. Some are hardly capable of walking let alone working. The video of those poor GSD’s wobbling around at Crufts is heartbreaking.
The breeder I bought my Sheps from bred working line dogs with nice strong backs. When he retired from breeding I retired from the GSD breed and changed my breed of choice to Rottweilers.
