What happened to John Byrne’s Next Men?
It’s interesting that you should ask, as I was just at the comic book store yesterday trying to find some of the collected “Next Men” trades to give to my sister for Christmas.
So, I liked this book as well, but it’s been ten years and we’re still waiting for more. Sadly it’s unlikely that we’ll ever get to see the series end.
If you remember, “Next Men” stopped being printed in 1995, possibly the darkest time in the history of the American comic book. With sales at an all time low it was just no longer profitable for John Byrne to keep working on what was, for the most part, a labor of love. It made more sense for him to go back to DC and then later to Marvel.
So, let’s just keep our fingers crossed.
